Absolute Networks is sensitive to the value of used equipment within the second-user market
The re-use of any redundant IT equipment must satisfy two main criteria within the WEEE legislation - namely that waste is reduced and wherever possible electrical and electronic waste is re-used. As a result, after equipment has been returned to our warehouse and assetted it is sorted into potentially saleable equipment and that destined for recycling.
The saleable equipment is tested to confirm its value, if any; it is then cleaned, de-badged, shredded etc. and either sold either through known traders or via Absolute-Resale - our eBay outlet.
Items for sale include whole or part IT items, thus minimising the overall quantity of materials sent for recycling.
Remarketing & rebates
If you feel your redundant IT equipment still has value and is in good working order, you can be assured that Absolute Networks will provide the best possible financial returns.
When you appoint us to sell any unused or recycled equipment on your behalf, we give you an agreed percentage back from the sale of the item(s) in the form of a rebate. As a matter of course we guarantee all data is wiped and asset tags are removed before going to resale. Also when selling equipment on your behalf, we produce regular reports detailing what items have been sold, for how much, the amount you will be rebated and what equipment is left to sell.
Enhancements & added value
IT equipment, particularly base units and laptops, can be enhanced by increasing speed, memory etc. While Absolute Networks does not attempt to achieve a major upgrade of the specification, it is able to make minor changes which enhance the value of such items prior to sale. If this is the case, an agreed cost will be attributed to this enhancement.
Recycling
Equipment which has no commercial value, either because it is damaged or simply at the end of its workable life, has no other destination than to raw material recycling companies.
Absolute Networks breaks down each item into key material components and transports the major part of its waste to specialist e-waste recycling plants. Each partner specialises in the re-use, de-manufacturing and trading of scrap electrical and electronic equipment. All are located and process the waste in the UK so it is ready for re-use as a recycled raw material.
